Synger recover from slow start to lower Syls
TEMPLEOGUE SYNGE STREET 1-15 ST SYLVESTER’S 2-9 Templeogue Synge Street once again showed that when it comes to the Championship they can mix it with the big boys as they overcame a fancied St Sylvester’s at O’Toole Park on Wednesday night. While it ended in glory for Synger this Dublin SFC first round clash the early omens were far from promising as Syls raced into an early 1-3 to 0-0 lead, with Darren Clarke cracking home the goal. However, once they settled the likes of Conor McKiernan, Eoghan and Fergal O’Gara really got motoring a very economical Templeogue Synge St impressed as they hit eight points without reply to lead 0-8 to 1-3 at half-time. The second half was nip-and-tuck until a Conor Daly goal edged Syls in front. The still held a two-point advantage late on before Denis Bastick scored a superb goal late in the game to snatch victory for Synger.
